100 Game Jams was an exhibition showcasing 100 games created by Samuli Jääskeläinen. These games were made in game jams, where people came together to create games in a short period of time, usually over a weekend. These events provided a great opportunity for developers to experiment with new ideas, collaborate with others, and push their skills to the limit. Jääskeläinen was a prolific game jam participant, having created over 100 games in various game jams around the world.
In this exhibition, visitors had the opportunity to explore a variety of games ranging from 80’s home arcade console titles to futuristic VR games, from slow-paced narrative experiences to rapid sensory overloads, and from games that took only an hour to make to games completed in jams lasting for months. While game jam games were usually developed in groups, the games on display here were a mixture of games Jääskeläinen made alone and ones made with friends, both old and new.
The collection of games highlighted the fun and crazy ideas that emerged when like-minded people came together to create something new in a weekend, purely for the love of the craft of game creation. Visitors were invited to explore this fascinating collection and discover the passion that drove the world of game jams.
