Games Now! Exhibition 2024 showcased six selected games from the GN! Game Jams held during the academic year 2023–24. Game jams were gatherings where creatives came together to develop games based on a specific theme. The themes for the GN! Game Jam Autumn 2023 and Spring 2024 were ‘missing’ and ‘messing’. The games in this exhibition explored these themes in various ways. In Chaos Cats, the theme ‘messing’ inspired a multiplayer game featuring mischievous cats. Strangers, also based on the theme ‘messing’, mediated the feeling of how easily one’s mind could become disordered when suffering from anxiety and panic attacks. Folamh, addressing the theme ‘missing’, explored the heavily stigmatized issues of gender dysphoria and body dysmorphia. In Limiter Not Found, parts of the map go missing while the player replayed the game. Lost Radiance embodies the theme of ‘missing’ through the sudden disappearance of light in the cosmos. In At Rest, the main character long for the moments in her life when things were easy and simple. The teams behind these games consisted of students and other GN! community members from Finland, China, Japan, Ireland, and the US.
